Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.Matthew 9:17
GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY (FEBUARY 04, 2012)
Honor the Aged
Read Leviticus 17:1 through 22:33
As Micah sat in the crowded waiting room of the doctor’s office, he noticed an elderly woman walk in the door. She shuffled painfully across the room to check in at the receptionist’s desk. When she turned to find a seat, there was not a single one available. It only took Micah a second to rise from his seat, offer his arm in assistance and escort her back to the now empty chair. She smiled her thanks to the kind young man and settled in to comfortably await her turn.
Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD (Leviticus19:32).
We live in a society that devalues our elderly. Senior citizens are often shown little or no respect. In the middle of a long list of instructions on how to live out the Ten Commandments, God honored the aged by exhorting His people to rise in their presence and be respectful of them. As believers we should diligently show our precious elderly the honor that is due them.
Challenge for Today: Do something to honor a senior citizen you know.
